1.) Start With People You Know-

Ask folks you know if it would be ok to give them updates on the market. Ask them how they prefer you contact them and stick to that method (phone calls, email newsletters, snail mail, etc).

Let friends and family know you’re in the business and are happy to help them if they need you. They’re probably more than happy to send you referrals, too.

Find a veteran agent and offer to help out with open houses. That will give you an opportunity to watch someone who knows what they’re doing. Take notes and emulate them.

Partner up with another salesperson and learn what you can until you’re ready to fly solo. When your broker or association has training opportunities, take them. Learn what you can in the classroom.

3.) Tap Into Past Experience-

Real estate agents can tap into all kinds of past experiences and professions to get an edge on the job.

Have you ever worked on a house? Knocked down a wall or built an addition? Done electrical or plumbing? Have you ever had a summer job landscaping?

If you have experience in anything that helps you provide some insight to a client, use it. You’re there to help.

You don’t have to have a degree in horticulture to offer a bit of advice on the yard or garden if you know what you’re talking about.
