Career Success Tips: Managing Your Time

You’ve probably heard it said that time is your most valuable commodity.

When you can manage your time well, lots of other things fall into place.

The people who can’t seem to master time management end up feeling frazzled all the time, never really getting anything accomplished and always running behind.

As a real estate professional, time management is key to success.

Here are a few tips for managing your time that we hope will inspire you, whether you are struggling or knocking things out of the park. Either way, time management can always be improved upon!

1. Make a Plan

If you have a plan, you will feel more in control of everything that is going on. Even if you have to deviate from it occasionally, it’s still there to give you that outline of what to expect.

2. Create a List

You might think this is the same thing as a plan, but a daily to-do list is more specific.

Write down things that need to be done and rank them in order of what is most important.

Don’t allow yourself to get sidetracked by things that aren’t relevant.

3. Set the Pace

When you pursue a career like real estate, you are essentially your own boss.

This means you have to set your own pace and stick to it. Don’t try to follow someone else’s lead.

However, there are successful people out there you can stand to learn something from.

For example, take a look at our interview with Josh Altman of Bravo TV’s million dollar listing.

4. Keep Focused

Don’t let yourself get distracted by things that may come up along the way.

Stick to the path you are on and keep your eye on the prize.

By setting realistic goals and rewarding yourself when you obtain them, you’ll have more success and manage your time better.

5. Learn to Say No

You can’t help everybody at the same time and you can’t be everything to everybody.

There’s always going to be someone who wants what you have and wants it for free.

Know that your services offer value and don’t get taken in by people who just want to take advantage of you.

Build the right relationships with clients so that you can ensure long-term success.

One day you will look back at your life and think about how you spent your time.

You won’t want to have wasted it so spend it wisely now! You’ll thank yourself later.

Email Marketing for Real Estate Professionals

e-mail symbolEmail Marketing for Real Estate Pros –

Email marketing is a powerful tool that can be leveraged to bring great results for real estate professionals.

Are you currently using email marketing?

If you don’t already have an email followup program, we recommend “Aweber – Click Here To Try It For $1.00

Maybe you have an email marketing strategy in place already and maybe you are still sort of winging it.

No matter where you are in the realm of email marketing, these tips should help you get going in the right direction.

Building a List –

One important part of email marketing is building your list.

It’s like that proverbial tree in the forest…if you create great email content, but nobody sees it, did it have any impact?

The answer to that is NO. This is why it’s important to have an ever-growing list of email contacts to send your content to.

Even if you have a good-sized list, you should always be growing it because it’s natural for some subscribers to drop off.

One way to build your list is utilizing your personal contacts.

Ask them to share the content with their contacts as well. This will only help to spread your information.

Make it easy for users to subscribe or opt in to your list. If it’s hard for them to find a way to subscribe, they probably won’t.

Share Great Content –

Once you have subscribers, keep them engaged with great content.

This might include articles and blog posts that contain helpful resources and information. Make your email content timely and relevant to your subscribers.

When you take the time to create thought-provoking content, your subscribers will keep coming back for more. This also helps to build your relationship with them.

Segment Your List –

Did you know there is a way to divide your email contact list into different segments, based on things like demographics?

You can do this with a software like: “Aweber – Click Here To Try It For $1.00

If you can segment your lists, consider sending different content that is relevant to different groups.

We are bombarded with messages these days. By segmenting your email marketing lists, you can ensure that the right people see the information that is most helpful to them. This way, they will be more engaged and more likely to join the conversation.

Real Estate Tips: How To Make Networking Work for You

Networking is an important part of career success and this applies to the real estate industry as well.

From growing your online influence to generating leads and enhancing opportunities for referrals, when done correctly, networking can have great impact on your business.

Real estate industry events are one way to network, but don’t limit yourself to these alone.

Since real estate is a people business, networking can pretty much be done anywhere people are.

The next time you have the opportunity to do some networking, consider the following:

1. Plan Ahead –

Know who you are talking to.

If you are attending an event, have a game plan before you arrive. Set goals for the networking opportunity.

These will vary depending on your unique circumstances, but it might include something like:

– Try to speak to at least 5 people

– Get 10 business cards

– Research the other attendees so when you meet them, you’ll know something about them.

You can find more on our other post: “5 Tips for Real Estate Networking Success

2. It’s Not About You –

We’ve all been there. Stuck at a networking event with a person who only wants to talk about himself.

Don’t be that guy (or gal). Ask questions. Show that you are interested in what others have to say.

Be genuine and authentic and employ active listening.

You will make a much better impression if you make other people feel heard than if you try to do all the talking.

3. Look for an Opportunity to Help –

This is where talking about yourself comes in.

As you are listening to what others have to say, look for opportunities to help.

Maybe they will mention that their child just went off to college and they need a smaller house.

Maybe they will say their family is growing and their current house isn’t big enough.

Maybe they are looking for a trustworthy service professional to help with some home repairs.

This is your chance to offer some valuable advice or insight that will help cement the connection.

The other person will come away from the interaction feeling like they got something out of it and you will have generated a new lead using a proven method.

4. Follow Up –

This is probably the most important aspect of networking.

After you have made connections with different people, take the time to follow up. Reach out and remind them that you met.

The follow-up is your chance to share more information about yourself and your business.

Ask them if you may add them to your email newsletter list or share a link to your social media channels.

Don’t let a possible networking opportunity fall flat because you didn’t take the time to follow up.

If you are serious about taking your real estate career to the next level, consider networking as a way to grow your brand and generate new leads.

And if you’re looking for new career opportunities, consider joining Big Block Realty!

Blogging Tips For Realtors to Get More Customers

Did you know that 9 out of every 10 prospective home buyers begins his or her search for a new home or property online?

This is huge and as both real estate professionals and Internet marketing experts, we wanted to share our thoughts as to how this information can help you in your California real estate career.

When a potential home buyer in California begins looking for San Diego homes for sale, he or she will find many different sites and options.

As a real estate professional, you want your content and site to be one of the first things that potential buyer sees.

A good way to ensure that happens is by creating great quality content in the form of a blog. Real estate professionals should use blogging as a key part of their Internet marketing strategy.

Something that’s also important to note is that only 4% of real estate professionals are currently doing this. This means that by implementing a real estate blog as part of your business, you can not only build your online brand but you can also be an early adopter and industry leader in this arena.

So just what does your blog need to have to be considered great? Here are a few tips!

1. Quality Content – Any good blog, whether it is a real estate blog or otherwise should have quality content. This means well-written articles and information that is easy to understand. It should also be entertaining and informative so that people want to read it.

2. Consistent Content – The worst thing you can do for a blog is to start it strong and then never post again. Create content that is posted on at least a semi-regular schedule. Keep the content coming regularly so you give your readers something to look forward to.

3. Make it Easy to Share – When creating a real estate blog, think about how your readers can help you spread your content. Provide ways that your blog posts can be shared.

This might be achieved by offering an email sign-up so customers can subscribe. It’s also important to provide social media functionality so posts can be shared on Facebook, tweeted on Twitter and spread via the other various social media channels.

4. Find your Authentic Brand Voice – This is crucial when developing a real estate business. A blog can help with this because it gives you a way to position yourself as an industry leader. Your brand needs an authentic voice. This is how you establish credibility and trust with your customers.

By creating a blog, you can take your real estate business to the next level.

Real Estate Success Tips: Working with Millennials

millennials real estateMillennials are Americans age 18 to 34.

Also sometimes referred to as Generation Y.

Real estate professionals are in the business of facilitating the buying and selling of houses, but the real business of real estate is working with people.

And since this younger audience is ever growing and becoming more sophisticated, it’s important we adapt as well.

New research from the Urban Land Institute cites Millennials as being a driving force in the way the real estate market is growing and changing.

In working with customers, we know the importance of forming relationships and listening to find out just what it is that buyers and sellers want.

This is  how real estate professionals increase their sales and grow their personal brands.

Real estate pros must learn how to work with buyers and sellers in every market sector and demographic. One important demographic real estate professionals are paying more attention to these days is Millennials.

Gen-Y individuals are different from their parents and previous generations. They seek different things, approach the world in a different way and want to be treated as the unique individuals they are.

According to the ULI study, Generation Y prefers to live in mixed-use developments as well as condominiums and downtown areas.

The study also found that the majority of Millennials prefer to live in close proximity to public transportation.

As a real estate professional hoping to work with customers in this market, keep the following things in mind:

1. Be Flexible – Younger generations often work non-traditional jobs so they might have schedules that require flexibility on the part of their real estate professionals.

2. Think Outside the Generation Box – This generation doesn’t approach life like their parents or grandparents do so as a real estate pro, you will be more successful if you don’t try to treat them as such.

3. Form Relationships – Working with customers of any kind requires engagement and relationships. Foster these relationships to creating long-term success. It will pay off for you as you grow your real estate sphere of influence!
