4 Common Reasons Some Agents Fail

There’s a lot of reasons some folks don’t last long in real estate. Regardless of what you may have heard, it’s not an easy job. If you decide to take a run at real estate, you better be ready to work hard and you better have some guts or you won’t last long. Here are some of the more common reasons new agents fail early.

1.) They Can’t Handle Rejection-

A big part of real estate is putting yourself out there. It’s not always easy and you have to figure out what works for you when it comes to reaching out to potential customers and breaking the ice. But you have to be prepared for rejection. If you become a real estate agent, you’re going to hear it a lot. It’s not personal, and you have to be able to carry on without becoming gun shy. Get out there and prospect, and continue prospecting until you get some clients.

2.) They Won’t Define Their Niche-

What kind of client are you going to specialize in? While it’s not a good idea to limit potential clients, it never hurts to brand yourself as a specialist in dealing with particular a particular niche. You can seek further education and certifications to make you more knowledgeable when it comes to dealing with certain kinds of clients. For example, military personnel, multi-generational families, retired people, or even millennials. If you build a reputation for servicing a particular community, you can build your business on it.

3.) They Won’t Embrace Current Technology-

Get on Facebook, learn to use Twitter, and find some apps that make being a real estate agent easier. If you’re afraid of social media, you need to get over it. Social media has proven itself an invaluable tool for real estate professionals. And you need a smart phone. Don’t whip out your flip phone in front of a millennial client. There are all kinds of apps available for your smartphone that are designed to make your job as an agent easier. Look them up. No one want to work with a dinosaur that can’t communicate via modern technology. Get with the times or get passed by.

4.) They Won’t Keep In Touch-

If you aren’t reaching out to your past clients and keeping those relationships alive, you’re blowing it. Keep your name in their mind so when they do need to move again or have friends thinking about it, they call you. Word of mouth may not be as flashy as a well made Facebook page, but it’s priceless. Stay in your clients’ lives, even if it’s just to send a Christmas card.

Any apps that help an agent get the job done better or faster is always a welcome addition to the tool box. 2015 saw some new apps that may help you keep it together on the job. Here’s a few you might want to check out.

3 Simple Rules for Real Estate Blogging

Big Block Realty wants all our agents to have the latest helpful tools to increase their success.

Learning new ways to market and grow your business is vital for real estate professionals.

Building a successful career with a 100% commission real estate business is all about learning everything you can to improve your business.

Most real estate agents keep up with what’s going on in the industry by reading real estate news, trade publications, and increasingly, blogs.

Digital Dictionary Blog Follow Like Concept

You may have been toying with the idea of starting your own blog as a way to increase your exposure and inbound traffic.

If you decide to start your own real estate blog, be sure to follow a few simple rules to stay out of trouble and protect your reputation and business.

1.) Don’t Make It About You-

No one reads a real estate blog for the big personalities involved. Your blog should be about your field and your relevant thoughts concerning it.

Don’t get caught up in trying to be an internet sensation. Educate and inform. Discuss and debate. Don’t brag.

No one care about your net worth, your boat, or how many houses you’ve sold.

Share your thoughts about the industry in order to help your followers.

2.) Original (Not Stolen) Content-

Want to ruin your reputation and become a pariah in your field?

Steal your fellow bloggers’ stuff.

If you get caught ripping off other people’s blogs, you’re going to get caught and publicly humiliated and then go broke because no one wants to do business with you.

Enough said.

3.) Don’t Run Your Mouth-

This means you don’t use your blog to bad mouth your fellow real estate agents, your clients, or anyone else, for that matter.

Your blog is no place for the airing of grievances and your personal issues with anyone. Your blog is about your experiences in your field, and that’s it.

Not only should you keep your blog clean, you should also never reveal any kind of confidential information about your colleagues or clients, (or yourself).

If you reveal something damaging or embarrassing about someone, don’t be surprised when you get sued.

At the very least, no one will want to work with you out of fear you’ll bad mouth them later.

Blogging can be a great way to build your business. Just be sure you’re doing it right.

It may seem daunting, but crafting an effective online marketing strategy for your real estate business is very possible on a small budget. Here are a few ideas.

Because it’s so image driven, Facebook is the perfect place for posting images and videos of your listings. The same can be said for Pinterest.

You can tweet information about new listings, open houses, and big changes to the market.

YouTube-

Video is a great way to highlight your listings. Get a camera and learn the basics.

You’re not trying to shoot an art film, just become confident enough to shoot videos with consistent quality.

Generating Micro Content for your Real Estate Business

Big Block Realty wants all our agents to have the latest helpful tools to increase their success.

Learning how to use social media for you real estate business is a vital skill in today’s market.

Building a successful career with a 100% commission real estate business is about learning new ways to use technology and marketing skills.

If you’re like most real estate agents working today, you’re spending at least some of your day on social media as part of your internet marketing strategy. You’ve probably been hearing a lot about micro content lately.

That’s because micro content is on its way to becoming the only content that matters anymore. The way consumers are interacting with advertisers online is changing.

Business Woman Texting

The mobile device is about to surpass desktop computers as the primary way people are accessing the internet, communicating, and doing business transactions online.

And if you want to keep up with your customers, you’ve got to go where they’re at. That means making content suitable for mobile devices. And that means generating micro content.

Micro content is loosely defined as short, easily digestible content that your followers can view and consume quickly. Your followers are spending an hour after work or before bed on their desktops surfing the internet.

They’re accessing their mobile devices while waiting in lines, riding elevators, and on their breaks at work. Your content has to be quick and easy or it’s going to get overlooked.

So what does all this mean for real estate agents? Actually, the concept of micro content is perfect for the real estate industry.

An agent can put up a quick photo of a listing’s best selling feature with the address and a short blurb. Enough to pique the interest of a follower looking for a specific property.

An agent can generate other micro content about open houses, neighborhood spotlights, or even quick walk through of a home.

When it comes to internet marketing, real estate agents should embrace micro content tailor made for mobile devices.
