Here’s some more tips for attracting millennials to your team.

1.) Teamwork-

Millennials place a lot of value on being part of a group effort larger than themselves. Show them that your company extols their values. Let them know they have plenty of people to turn to for anything they need on the job.

Give them a warm welcome by pairing them up with a mentor for a while. Make sure they’re meeting the whole team throughout their training period.

2.) Community Involvement-

Millennials want to do more than make money. They are very motivated to get involved in organizations that give something back to the community where they live. This can be anything from a 5k to a food drive, or anything that helps people in need.

These kinds of events are also a great way for new agents to make contacts and meet people, as well as get to know their territory. Find a good cause and get your company involved.

3.) Keep Them In The Loop-

Millennials don’t want to be a cog in a greater machine. They don’t want to be treated like worker bees. They want to be a vital part of wherever they decide to make a career.

They want to have meaningful and honest relationships with their coworkers and employers. This means getting to know them and keeping them informed about what’s going on in the company.

If you make them feel like they’re just a number, you’re never going to be able to keep them around for very long.

The millennials are all grown up. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know them, if you don’t understand them, or if you’re just scared of them, they are the future.

They are currently the biggest and fastest growing consumer demographic, and when it comes to real estate, they make up the vast majority of first time home buyers. And millennials want to do business with fellow millennials.

That means our industry needs to figure out how to get millennials interested in careers in real estate, and how to get them to stay for the long haul. Here are some ideas.

1.) Excite Them-

Millennials don’t want to go to work with a boring, stagnant company. They want to work at a dynamic company that’s willing to try new things. That means a lot of companies need to throw out the old playbook and start coming up with new ways to do business.

Think about craft beer brewers, coffee houses, and tech start ups. The workplace doesn’t get much more hip and fun than that! Can your business emulate them? Because you’re going to need to. Good luck.

2.) Speaking Of Tech Start Ups…-

Your company needs to stay on the cutting edge of technology related to real estate. That means apps for everything, remote business options, and easy communication.

Remember, while you may have learned about computers from Oregon Trail, millennials were born into a world with the internet and Angry Birds. Their mobile devices are their everything. Incorporate tech accordingly.

3.) Give Your Team A Long Leash-

Millennials don’t want to held down by nine to five jobs like their parents. They want to be able to move about freely and not have a boss breathing down their neck and watching their every move.

Offer millennials some autonomy to come and go as they please. This doesn’t mean you have to surrender authority, just don’t get so caught up in keeping tabs on your employees so long as they are performing.

New research from the Urban Land Institute cites Millennials as being a driving force in the way the real estate market is growing and changing.

Real estate pros must learn how to work with buyers and sellers in every market sector and demographic. One important demographic real estate professionals are paying more attention to these days is Millennials.

Gen-Y individuals are different from their parents and previous generations. They seek different things, approach the world in a different way and want to be treated as the unique individuals they are.

According to the ULI study, Generation Y prefers to live in mixed-use developments as well as condominiums and downtown areas.

The study also found that the majority of Millennials prefer to live in close proximity to public transportation.

As a real estate professional hoping to work with customers in this market, keep the following things in mind:

1. Be Flexible – Younger generations often work non-traditional jobs so they might have schedules that require flexibility on the part of their real estate professionals.

2. Think Outside the Generation Box – This generation doesn’t approach life like their parents or grandparents do so as a real estate pro, you will be more successful if you don’t try to treat them as such.
