Have you ever given any thought to how much you communicate without actually speaking? It might not seem all that important, but when it comes to being successful as a top California real estate brokerage, communication in all forms is everything. As a top realtor you should be able to manage your time well and keep control of your emotions. These are just a few things that clients notice and it could make the difference of closing a big real estate deal.

Believe it or not, you have a range of about 20,000 facial expressions. That’s a lot of non-verbal communication. Think about the last time you interacted with a person you could tell was in a bad mood. They didn’t have to tell you, did they? They probably were giving it away by their behavior and nonverbal cues.

The eyes communicate on levels most of us are not even aware of. Interest and engagement are generally expressed with our eyes. Consider social settings. If the eye contact isn’t there, then you can bet neither is the interest.

When you meet with real estate clients, look them in the eye. Find a way to be direct, but don’t be too intense.

Too much eye contact can make us squirmish. No one wants to be stared at. The scrutiny makes us uncomfortable, or even outright hostile. Think about nature. Animals show their dominance by staring each other down. Don’t do that.

A hard gaze shows courage and defiance when focused on an opponent or enemy. Often if a person can’t hold another’s gaze, they are inviting aggression. Or at the very least dominance.
